U19 European Modern Pentathlon Cup: Russian prospects stand out in Poland

With UIPM World Cup IV looming on the horizon, the Polish pentathlon stronghold of Drzonków hosted the International Junior Trophy and U19 European Modern Pentathlon Cup in the Provincial Sports and Recreation Centre of Zbigniew Majewski, where 85 athletes from 10 countries took part.

Among juniors Ksenia Fralcova (RUS) finished first followed by Aurelia Tamasaukaite (LTU) and Marina Carrier (AUS). The best Pole was Natalia Dominiak (ZKS Drzonkow).

Andrei Zuev (RUS) was the winner of the men’s event, ahead of home athlete Daniel Lawrynowicz (St PP CWKS Legia Warsaw) in second and Marek Grycz (CZE) in third.

Adelina Ibatullina (RUS) was the winner in the women’s open classification of the U19 European Cup followed by Melissa Mireles (MEX) and Rebeka Peter (HUN). Wiktoria Wierzba (UKS 8 Starogard Grański) was the best Pole, ranked 7th.

The best men in the category were from Hungary: Barnabas Burcsik finished first and Balazs Szap second, with Gytis Gudlevicius (LTU) third. Oskar Paradowski (UKS G-8 Bielany Warszawa) finished 7th and was the best Pole.

The competitions in Drzonków were the final organisational test before UIPM World Cup IV in May, which will feature the best senior pentathletes from 25 countries.
