UIPM 2015 Biathle/ Triathle World Championships: Egypt dominates the second day

Triathle

BATUMI, GEORGIA - Egyptian were once again the headline grabbers on the second day of the UIPM 2015 Biathle/Triathle World Championships in Batumi, Georgia.

They dominated the Triathle Boys and Girls competition encompassing Youth A, B, C, D and E along with the Juniors, Seniors (Women) and Masters winning 11 gold medals – quite some distance ahead of closest rivals Georgia, Russia and South Africa.

Georgia may have not yet managed to get themselves any individual Gold Medal, although they have won a few Silvers, but are proving to be perfect hosts.

Their organisation has been excellent and the enthusiasm of the locals has seen them create a wonderful atmosphere for the athletes to compete in at the Batumi beachside venue.

The commitment and passion of the athletes has been exceptional in particularly hot weather conditions as South African athlete Osche Retief demonstated after winning category Youth B: “I have been training so hard to achieve this. I love this sport”

Tomorrow sees the World Championships come to a close with the Biathle in which Great Britain, with their huge delegation of athletes, look determined to dominate, although South Africa and Egypt will be out to keep their challenge at bay.
