12.-13.03.2019, Paris, FRA

UIPM President Dr Klaus Schormann inspected Castle Versailles, where the Modern Pentathlon competitions will be organized during the Paris 2024 Olympic Summer Games.

15.-17.03.2019, Oestersund, SWE

During a visit to the Biathlon World Championships, UIPM President met with Sepp Fendt, President of the International Luge Federation (FIL), and International Biathlon Union (IBU) President Olle Dahlin. They discussed important matters of international sporting politics related to the IOC Agenda 2020.

During a working meeting under the theme “promotion, publications and modern communication” the UIPM President discussed with the UIPM Executive Board Member for Marketing, Martin Dawe, and UIPM Communications Manager Jonathan Coates strategies to improve UIPM publications. They also spoke about the library and UIPM archive materials which are placed in the President’s Office. They continued the preparation of a new book linked to the whole movement of Modern Pentathlon from ancient time 708 BC until today.

21.03.2019, Frankfurt/Main, GER

President Dr Schormann took part in the Assembly of the Sport foundation of Hesse as member of the Board. There he met with Prof Dr Hans Michael Ockenfels, Chairman of the UIPM Doping Review Panel, who is also a member and briefed him about the situation between the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and International Federations. Another item they discussed was a communication strategy for the health and protection of athletes and coaches.

24.-27.03.2019, Tokyo, JPN

UIPM President Dr Schormann and Secretary General Shiny Fang met with the Modern Pentathlon Department of the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic Summer Games 2020. Together with Noriyuki Nakamura, Modern Pentathlon Competition Manager, and Ichiro Tomiyasu, Secretary General of the Modern Pentathlon Association of Japan, they discussed preparations for the IUPM Pentathlon World Cup Final and Olympic test event (June 27-30, 2019) in Tokyo (JPN) and next steps in preparations for the Olympic Games in the Tokyo stadium.

The main points of discussion were horses, venue infrastructure, transportation, ticketing, general technology, sport presentation, result system, media and TV.
