IOC confirms timeline for finalising Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games sports programme

Pentathlon

As the Pentathlon world continues preparations for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has confirmed the timeline for finalising the sport programme for the following Summer Olympic Games in Brisbane 2032.

In December 2026, the IOC will announce which of the current Olympic sports (incumbent disciplines) will be automatically recommended for inclusion. It will also announce which of the incumbent disciplines will proceed to the "combined comparison phase" where the suitability of both existing and new sports proposed for Brisbane 2032 will be assessed.

The 147th IOC Session in Punta Cana (DOM) will then confirm the final programme in April 2027.

Pentathlon is an incumbent discipline, having been part of every Summer Olympic Games programme since Stockholm 1912. The IOC has not yet confirmed the list of candidate disciplines.
