UIPM 2022 Pentathlon World Cup Albena: Serapinaite (LTU) leads the charge

- Great Britain team qualifies four women for Super Saturday Finals
Ieva Serapinaite of Lithuania heads into the Women’s Final in pole position after performing strongly in the Semi-finals at UIPM 2022 Pentathlon World Cup Albena.
Serapinaite (LTU), leading her team in the absence of two-time Olympic medallist Laura Asadauskaite (LTU), crossed the line first in Semi-final A along with Charlie Follett of Great Britain and Ilke Ozyuksel of Turkey.
There was a four-way tie at the end of Semi-final B, with Jessica Varley (GBR) cruising home in the company of Rebecca Langrehr of Germany, Veronika Novotna of Czech Republic and Sunwoo Kim of Korea.
Serapinaite (LTU) had already scored highest in the Fencing Ranking Round, 24 victories giving her a 10-point cushion in the Final on Saturday morning.
Others poised to challenge for podium places in the Final will be Rio 2016 Olympic silver medallist Elodie Clouvel of France and Laser Run specialist Mayan Oliver of Mexico.
The British team was celebrating after four athletes reached the 18-strong Final on Super Saturday, with Follett (GBR) and Varley (GBR) joined by Kerenza Bryson (22V/13D in Fencing) and Olivia Green.
UIPM 2022 Pentathlon World Cup Albena continues tomorrow (May 13) with the Men's Semi-finals, followed by the Women’s and Men’s Finals on May 14 and the Mixed Relay on May 15.
