UIPM 2022 Youth World Championships: U17 Semi-finals, U19 Qualification

Eighteen athletes have earned the right to compete in the Under 17 Men’s Final at the UIPM 2022 Youth World Championships in Lignano Sabbiadoro (ITA).

The day also featured the first day of individual qualification for the Under 19 Women, with 36 athletes progressing to the Semi-finals.

 

Under 17 Day 4

Marwan Allam of Egypt won the first U17 Men’s Semi-final ever staged in a UIPM competition, scoring 870 points to finish 3sec ahead of Denis Agavrloaie of Italy and 6sec over 3rd-placed Bartosz Szmytke of Poland.

In the second Semi-final, Karl Furderer of France delivered the standout performance of the day with 883 points, finishing 3sec ahead of Krystian Trepczyk (POL) and 13sec ahead of Gandhy Miranda of Mexico and Matteo Gozzoli (ITA).

The Men’s U17 Final will take place on Thursday, September 8 and the full list of 18 qualifiers is as follows:

Under 19 Day 4

Fifty-six athletes took part in two qualification rounds to determine which 36 would progress to the Women’s Under 19 Semi-finals.

In the first heat, a mass finish was led by Lucie Hlavackova of Czech Republic (1024 points), 1sec ahead of Elisa Sala (ITA) and Korea duo Yena Kim and Sumin Shin.

The second heat was won in convincing style by Jiho Shin (KOR) with 1037 points, as she finished 8sec ahead of Gabrielle Holland of Great Britain and 17sec ahead of Zeina Amer (EGY).
