UIPM 2025 Laser Run World Championships: Closing success for Dale (MON) and Dallenbach (SUI)
Julia Dale of Monaco and Alexandre Dallenbach of Switzerland brought a triumphant close to proceedings at the first combined UIPM Biathle-Triathle and Laser Run World Championships in Mossel Bay, South Africa.
Dale (MON) won her first senior world title of the week in the Laser Run Finals while Dallenbach (SUI) picked up his third, having dominated across Biathle, Triathle and Laser Run in a week when his son Abel Dallenbach (SUI) also enjoyed success.
Dallenbach (SUI) emerged triumphant from another all-European podium contest in the Senior Men’s Final. A time of 10:52.20 gave the Swiss a 12sec margin of victory over fellow Paris 2024 Olympian Todor Mihalev of Bulgaria, with Florian Barenthaler taking bronze back to Austria.
Dale (MON) went one better than the silver medal she achieved in Triathle – and she was made to earn it by a stern challenge from Aranka Chalupnikova of Czechia, who finished 11sec behind the champion with Tara Schwulst of South Africa picking up bronze.
There was prolific success once again for Egypt in the youth categories, the North African powerhouse dominating the U11-U17 categories with six of the eight individual gold medals. Milanke Hassbroek of Australia beat off South African and British competition to become U13 world champion.
The elder teens of the host nation managed a 1-2-3 in the Women’s U17 category, led by champion Tatiana Thomatos (RSA), and a 1-2 at U19 where Simone van der Merwe (RSA) came out on top.
Daniel Grove (RSA) won comfortably at U19 with Saksham Pratap Singh of India picking up silver. Mia Botha (RSA) became Women’s Junior champion with another medal for the Indian team as Neha Yadav (IND) picked up silver.
Giorgi Tskhadadze of Georgia emulated his Triathle success, attaining another world title in Laser Run thanks to a time of 11:01.90, followed home by Athanasios Spantouros of Greece and Stefan Barenthaler of Austria.
