UIPM 2025 Pentathlon World Cup Budapest: France dominate Men’s Qualification
Led by two-time world champion Valentin Belaud, athletes from France dominated the second day of UIPM 2025 Pentathlon World Cup Budapest, finishing first in all three Men’s Qualification groups as 96 athletes chased 36 places in the Semi-finals.
Group A was won by Leo Bories (FRA), who finished 3sec ahead of Mohamed Hassan of Egypt with a haul of 1,556 points as Jonas Kalaminskas of Lithuania came home 3rd.
The highest score of the day went to Group B winner Ugo Fleurot (FRA), whose 1,558 points enabled him to edge out Mohamed El Ashqar (EGY). Local favourite Mihaly Koleszar of Hungary completed the top three.
In Group C, veteran Belaud (FRA) continued his strong early-season form with a score of 1,556, qualifying for the Semi-finals comfortably ahead of Moriz Klinkert of Germany, with Mathis Rochat (FRA) in 3rd.
Among the notable absentees from the Semi-finals will be world champion Csaba Bohm (HUN) after an injury prevented him from taking part, and world silver medallist Balazs Szep (HUN), who finished 18th in Group A.
After his bronze medal in the season-opening UIPM 2025 Pentathlon World Cup Cairo, Mohanad Shaban (EGY) also failed to survive the Qualification round as he was eliminated in Obstacle in Group B.
