UIPM 2025 Pentathlon World Cup Budapest: Khalil (EGY) and Guzi (HUN) stand out in Women’s Qualification

As Farida Khalil of Egypt continued to set the world standard, Paris 2024 Olympic champion Michelle Gulyas and world No.2 Blanka Guzi of Hungary were among the successful qualifiers on the first day of UIPM 2025 Pentathlon World Cup Budapest.

Group A was dominated by 14-year-old Khalil (EGY), who achieved the highest score of the day with a points total of 1,405. Local favourite Gulyas (HUN) finished 2nd with Rebecca Castaudi of France, Aurora Tognetti of Italy and Lucie Hlavackova of Czechia joining them in the top five.

The fastest Laser Run time of the Qualification round was set by 2024 world champion, world No.1 and Olympic bronze medallist Seungmin Seong of Korea, but only after she had suffered elimination on a challenging Obstacle course.

In Group B, Guzi (HUN) came out on top with 1,399 points, finishing a huge margin ahead of Yuri Kim (KOR), Jing Fu of China, Louison Cazaly (FRA), Mariya Gnedtchik (AIN) and Anna Jurt of Switzerland.

Pentathlon World Cup Budapest continues tomorrow (April 23) with Men's Qualification and the Women’s Fencing Seeding Round, followed by the Semi-finals on April 24-25 and the Finals on April 26.
