UIPM 2026 Pentathlon Junior World Championships: Relay glory for Egypt and Czechia

Modern Pentathlon

Tuesday had a golden touch for the victorious teams from Egypt and Czechia as the closing action of the UIPM 2026 Pentathlon Junior World Championships saw two thrilling Relay Finals.

The duo of Zeina Amer and Jana Attia claimed the Women’s Team Relay crown for Egypt while Dan Vorlicek and Matyas Stegmann teamed up to drive Czechia to glory in the Men’s event. The results meant that all six gold medals on offer over the course of the week in Kaunas (LTU) went to six different nations.

Egypt (Amer/Attia) held off a ferocious fight from one of the best duos at any level of Modern Pentathlon, twin sisters Katharina and Florina Jurt of Switzerland who just had too much ground to make up despite a gallant Laser Run performance.

Behind the leading teams, the pairing of Coline Flavin and Mathilde Derval secured a bronze medal for France in a well-contested Women’s competition which featured 16 nations from four continents. Germany (Nadja Farmand & Amaya El-Masri) were 18 seconds back in fourth with Czechia (Daniela Vesela & Katerina Vanova) pipping Poland (Hanna Jakubowska & Malgorzata Karbownik) to fifth.

Earlier Tuesday, the Men’s competition was a closer-run thing but having  built up a commanding lead, Czechia (Vorlicek/Stegmann) kept their composure to race to the top of the podium. Fifteen seconds behind were the pairing of Danylo Sych and Oleg Rybak who combined to deliver another silver medal for Ukraine, adding to the one Sych (UKR) had picked up in the Men’s Final the previous day.

Again it was a team from France who occupied the third step on the podium with Etienne Clergeau and Florent Schoen (FRA) ending their week with a prize. Behind them were the teams from Egypt (Omar Amer & Sief Soliman) in fourth with Japan (Kanta Abe & Sief Soliman) in fifth and the home team of Lithuania (Ignas Zaveckas & Justas Stuikys) in sixth.
