UIPM 2026 Pentathlon U19 World Championships: Germany open with Women’s Relay success

Modern Pentathlon

Amaya El-Masri and Jennifer Block of Germany became the first gold medallists of the UIPM 2026 Pentathlon U19 World Championships in Madrid (ESP) with a decisive Women’s Relay victory.

El-Masri & Block (GER) finished 7sec ahead of Great Britain duo Daisy Hassell and Jemima Chetwood on the opening day of the Championships, held in parallel with the Tetrathlon U15 World Championships.

Finishing 10sec further behind, bronze medallists Italy joined the podium party thanks to Annachiara Allara and Sara Beggio holding off the threat of South Africa (Megan Kleynhans and Tatiana Thomatos) and neutral athletes Nikol Hulevich and Palina Bubnova.

The Germans took control in the first two disciplines, winning Fencing and following up with an excellent Obstacle Racing time (second only to the Italians), giving themselves some breathing space before Laser Run.

The British challengers almost turned the tables with the second-fastest Laser Run, only bettered by Hulevich & Bubnova, whose speed enabled them to finish 5th out of 16 competing teams.
