UIPM 2025 Pentathlon Junior World Championships: Women’s Qualification

Modern Pentathlon

The UIPM 2025 Pentathlon Junior World Championships began in Székesfehérvár (HUN) today with teenage sensation Farida Khalil of Egypt breaking yet another world record.

There were a total of 78 athletes split into three groups attempting to grab one of Friday’s 36 semi-final places.

And who else to dominate the headlines than 14-year-old superstar Khalil (EGY), who smashed the Junior Obstacle world record by nearly 3sec on a hot summer’s day where temperatures went over 30C at the Székesfehérvár Regional Athletics Centre.

Zora Zeman of Hungary’s time of 00:30.346 set a high standard but the Egyptian ran the course in an astonishing 00:27.581, gaining 363 points from the discipline and contributing to her overall qualifying score of 1398.

This accumulation put Group A leader Khalil – fresh from winning her second senior Pentathlon World Cup of the 2025 season in Pazhardzhik (BUL) - as the undoubted favourite heading into the Fencing Seeding Round.

Malgorzata Karbownik of Poland was the only other pentathlete on the day to get sub 30 seconds in obstacle (00:28.17) and the recently crowned European junior champion led qualification Group C racking up 1367 points whilst Anastasiya Malashenoka (AIN) topped Group B with 1370 points.

Valentina Martinescu of Italy and Vivienne Meyer of Switzerland from group A also stood out, Martinescu garnering 1380 points and Meyer 1377.
