UIPM 2025 Pentathlon World Championships: Martinescu (ITA) cruises through Women’s Qualification
Valentina Martinescu of Italy shone on the second day of the UIPM 2025 Pentathlon World Championships with the highest score during Women’s Qualification.
With a points total of 1,422, Martinescu (ITA) won Group B by 14sec from local favourite Elzbieta Adomaityte of Lithuania, with Beatrice Mercuri (ITA) finishing a close third and reigning world champion Seungmin Seong of Korea one place further back.
Earlier, Farida Khalil of Egypt finished Group A 13sec ahead of Aurora Tognetti (ITA), with Jana Attia (EGY) leading home a pack finish including three-time Olympian Ilke Ozyuksel of Turkiye, 2024 world bronze medallist Rita Erdos of Hungary and 2025 European silver medallist Emma Whitaker of Great Britain.
The UIPM 2025 Pentathlon World Championships take place in Kaunas (LTU) from August 26-30, continuing with Men’s Semi-finals on August 28.
