The gold and silver medallists from the UIPM 2025 Pentathlon World Cup Final, Moutaz Mohamed of Egypt and Matej Lukes of Czechia, were among the standout performers in the Men’s Semi-finals at the UIPM 2025 Pentathlon World Championships.
World No.1 Mohamed (EGY) came from behind to win Semi-final A by 1sec from Danylo Sych of Ukraine, with Leo Bories of France a further 1sec adrift. The 2024 silver medallist, Balazs Szep of Hungary, qualified comfortably and Daniel Lawrynowicz of Poland pushed his way into the top nine in Laser Run, at the expense of Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medallist Giorgio Malan of Italy.
Andras Gall (HUN) performed exceptionally to win Fencing, defeating team-mate Szep (HUN) in the Final having started with a victory over two-time world champion and top seed Valentin Belaud (FRA). Bories (FRA) was quickest around the Obstacle course in 26.79, before Malan (ITA) topped Swimming in 2:03.46. Jonghyeon Lee of Korea set the standard in Laser Run but his 10:30.74 was not enough to breach the top nine.

Lukes (CZE) won Semi-final B with a total of 1,518 points, crossing the line 1sec ahead of James Hulme of Great Britain. A batch of five then crossed the line together, with Ugo Fleurot of France and Pau Salomo of Spain securing the last two places in the Final.
Mathis Rochat (FRA) won Fencing, defeating Miklos Rieger of Germany in the final bout. After a double fall resulted in Obstacle world record-holder Mohamed El Ashqar (EGY) twisting his knee and failing to finish, Salomo (ESP) set the fastest Obstacle time of 25.45sec ahead of Matteo Bovenzi (ITA) in 26.71 – who then stormed through Swimming in 1:54.71. Reigning world champion Csaba Bohm (HUN), having also been eliminated in Obstacle, set the fastest Laser Run time of 10:14.63.
