NICE, FRANCE: January 31, 2025 – The Executive Board (EB) of the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) is now fully formed for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic cycle after the conclusion of a two-day EB meeting.

Following the recent election of Sam Curry of Great Britain as Chair of the UIPM Athletes Committee, Paulius Aleksandravicius of Lithuania was appointed as Chair of the UIPM Coaches Committee. Aged 31 and 35 respectively, the duo brings vigour to a new-look EB that contains 13 fresh faces.

The first meeting of the new EB, most of which was elected at the historic UIPM 2024 Congress in Riyadh (KSA) with three further positions filled in December, featured intensive discussions as the federation works to refine its 2025-28 Olympic cycle strategy.

The EB awarded the 2026 UIPM U19 & U15 World Championships to Madrid, Spain, and appointed the following Commission Chairs:

  • UIPM Innovation Commission: Ivar Sisniega (MEX)
  • UIPM Women’s Commission: Anna Bajan (POL)
  • UIPM Equipment Commission: Gary Lu (USA)
  • UIPM Culture & Education Commission: Dr Klaus Schormann (GER)
  • UIPM Pierre de Coubertin Commission: Alexandra de Navacelle de Coubertin (FRA)
  • UIPM Para Pentathlon Commission: Dr Nicola Robinson (GBR).

All EB members attending the meeting signed a Code of Conduct following unanimous agreement. There was also unanimous agreement over the participation of neutral athletes from Belarus and Russia in UIPM competitions, where UIPM’s policy will not be updated until the conclusion of the next Session of the International Olympic Committee in March 2025.

UIPM President Rob Stull OLY said: “The first EB meeting of the 2025 quad, leading to Los Angeles, has concluded and we are very excited to have our new mantra which is ‘ATHLETES FIRST’. Everything we do has to be central to that.

“We were able to establish a full Executive Board and we are very pleased with the make-up of this leadership team. We also named a number of Chairs for the Commissions that will operate during the quad. All in all it was a great meeting, hosted here in France near to the UIPM Headquarters, we were able to reduce costs with this location and we are going to continue that heading to Los Angeles 2028.

“We now have a series of UIPM Committee Meetings including the Joint Committee Meeting, and after that our whole community will be able to focus on the 2025 season, which is going to be an extraordinary spectacle with the integration of Obstacle at senior international level for the first time. See you in Cairo in four weeks!”
