Three of the best-known figures in the Egyptian Modern Pentathlon movement fronted up for the UIPM Sports movement at the 2019 World Youth Forum in Sharm-el-Sheikh (EGY).

The Egyptian Modern Pentathlon Federation (EMPF) was represented by three-time Olympian Aya Medany, Chair of the UIPM Athletes Committee and Member of the IOC Athletes Commission, 2019 Mixed Relay world champion Eslam Hamad and EMPF President Sharif Elerian.

The four-day gathering from December 14-17 was held under the auspices of Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-sisi and attracted 7,000 participants.

It was open to official youth representatives over 18 years of age, including leaders of various youth networks, head of states, media figures and around 250 young Egyptian expats, sport athletes and figures. Discussions among the international delegates were structured around the three themes of peace, development and creativity.

The World Youth Forum was first held in November 2017, engaging young people and enabling them to exchange views and recommend initiatives to decision-makers and influential figures.
