UIPM 2018 Pentathlon World Cup Final: How to watch the action in Astana (KAZ)

The climax of the 2018 UIPM Pentathlon World Cup season will be beamed out around the world with 21 international networks relaying the action across all continents.

The action from Pentathlon World Cup Final Astana will be televised live by 18 networks including delayed live coverage appearing on two of these. TV highlights will be shown on a further four networks with one network broadcasting live via a digital platform.

Globally, highlights will be available on the Olympic Channel while major sports broadcasters such as L’Equipe (France), Sky Sports (UK), Fox Sports (Australia / Asia) and CCTV (China) have all secured the rights. As ever a live stream will also be available each day on UIPM TV with up-to-date results available at the UIPM website. 

Dozens of the world’s leading pentathletes are gathering in Astana ahead of the three-day competition, which starts on June 22 with the Women’s Final, continues with the Men’s Final on June 23 and concludes with the Mixed Relay on June 24. A total of 72 athletes (36 male and 36 female) have earned the right to compete for World Cup glory after performances throughout the season.

UIPM President Dr Klaus Schormann said: “Astana is a new destination on our Pentathlon World Cup circuit and a fitting venue for this special occasion.

“Kazakhstan has become an important pillar for UIPM and the Olympic movement in Asia. Many important sporting events have been staged here and we are proud to bring our global community together in this spectacular city.

“The Pentathlon World Cup Final is a very important moment in the season. Competition will be fierce between 36 women and 36 men who have performed at a high level throughout four World Cups in Cairo, Los Angeles, Kecskemet and Sofia.

“We are almost halfway through the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games cycle and we know the athletes will compete with intensity without forgetting the values and Olympic spirit of our founder, Baron Pierre de Coubertin.”
