UIPM News

UIPM President Rob Stull and Vice President Sharif El-Erian met Egypt’s Minister of Education and Technical Education in Cairo (EGY) to launch a new partnership aimed at strengthening school pathways leading to participation in Modern Pentathlon.

The Minister, His Excellency Mohamed Abdel Latif, welcomed President Stull and Vice President El-Erian – also President of the Egyptian Modern Pentathlon Federation – to the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.

Their discussions focused on expanding Pentathlon across schools through a structured national framework including talent identification, competition pathways, and long-term athlete development aligned with Olympic standards.

The meeting was also attended by Dr Shady Abdel Aziz, EMPF Treasurer, and Dr Ahmed Daher, Deputy Minister of Education.

The Minister emphasised transforming schools into engines of talent discovery, while Dr Daher confirmed that the Egyptian School Sports Federation will lead nationwide execution, ensuring scalability and access across all governorates.

President Rob Stull praised Egypt’s model as a global benchmark, while Vice President El-Erian highlighted institutional sustainability. Dr Abdel Aziz emphasised governance and financial structuring as key enablers for expansion.

UIPM President Rob Stull said: “This strategic effort to strengthen school pathways within Egypt aligns well with UIPM’s global strategy on grassroots development and it is a very welcome initiative, especially in the continent of Africa.

“The popularity and success of Pentathlon in Egypt makes this an ideal country for such ambition to be implemented, and I would love to see other nations follow suit with similar national and regional partnerships that make our wonderful multisports accessible to more young people from all communities.”

The next phase of the partnership will involve a pilot rollout, a national school competition calendar and integration with Olympic preparation pathways.
