IOC President Bach addresses UIPM Executive Board at Olympic House in Lausanne (SUI)

The President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Dr Thomas Bach, addressed the UIPM Executive Board on the first day of a two-day meeting at the new IOC Headquarters in Lausanne (SUI).

Dr Bach made a speech and took part in a Q&A with UIPM’s most senior decision-making body at Olympic House.

IOC Vice President Juan Antonio Samaranch also addressed the Executive Board, on which he sits as UIPM’s 1st Vice President, as did Kit McConnell, the IOC Sport Director. Mr McConnell took part in a Q&A about the Olympic Summer Games programme for Tokyo 2020, Paris 2024 and Los Angeles 2028.

UIPM President Dr Klaus Schormann chaired the first day of the EB meeting, which will conclude on Friday, January 31 with a number of decisions expected.

The agenda includes a review of proposals from the ad-hoc New Pentathlon and New Tetrathlon Working Groups, discussions on the Dakar 2022 Youth Olympic Games qualification system and presentations relating to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and UIPM e-sports.

Olympic House in Lausanne (SUI) was opened in 2019 and serves as a home for the global Olympic sports family, of which UIPM has been a part since its creation in 1948.
