Para movement breaks new ground with UIPM Para Tetrathlon World Ranking Series
After the historic achievements of 2025, the UIPM Para Sports movement is entering an exciting new chapter, with a global series of competitions that will push boundaries and showcase athletes worldwide.
The UIPM Para Tetrathlon World Ranking Series is a newly announced initiative that builds on the successful inaugural UIPM 2025 Para Tetrathlon World Championships held in Lithuania.
Expanded to welcome both male and female athletes from PMP4, PMP5 and PMP7b classifications, the series will include four stops – in Great Britain, Spain, Finland and South Africa – from March to September. Composed of three ranking events before culminating at the UIPM 2026 Para Tetrathlon World Championships, the series will help to further open the format of Para Obstacle > Para Swimming > Para Laser Run to even more Para athletes.
Last August in Druskininkai (LTU), that format proved an instant hit with the PMP5 classification as Vicco Irbin of Italy went down in history as individual winner of the first UIPM Para Tetrathlon World Championships, while Ukraine claimed the team medal.

Now PMP4 and PMP7b competitors can join counterparts in the UIPM Para Tetrathlon World Ranking Series, which starts in Bath (GBR) on March 28. The second stop will be in Pontevedra (ESP) between 9-12 July before Pajulahti (FIN) hosts the PMP4 / PMP5 communities from 18-21 August. Classification opportunities for those athletes who need it have been confirmed for both Bath and Pajulahti; please email classification@pentathlon.org to register your intent to be classified.
The series builds towards what will surely be the highlight of the year, the UIPM 2026 Para Tetrathlon World Championships, held in the iconic coastal city of Cape Town (RSA) in late September.
Dr Nicola Robinson, Chair of the UIPM Para Pentathlon Commission, commented: “Last year we witnessed a historic breakthrough with the very first Para Tetrathlon World Championships in Lithuania. Now we know that 2026 is shaping up to be even more exciting, promoting our inclusive commitment and providing a platform for these athletes to amplify their abilities to the world.

“We know that Para Tetrathlon is a celebration of resilience, talent and the unifying spirit of our sport. I cannot wait to see all of those qualities in evidence at all four stops of this groundbreaking series. I would like to express my greatest appreciation to all the local organising committees who will be making this series possible by accommodating and hosting our brilliant athletes at their venues.”
