UIPM 2019 Global Laser Run City Tour: A new wave in the port of Gdynia (POL)

Laser Run

Poland’s association with the Global Laser Run City Tour began in Tczew in May 2019, and the year ended with another successful competition in the Baltic port of Gdynia.

Poland has a glorious history in Modern Pentathlon, having produced the Olympic champion in 1976 and 1992, and now the country is embracing the most accessible and popular UIPM development sport.

A spokesperson for the local organising committee said: “The new discipline aroused interest among residents not only from the region but also from all over Poland.

“There was a great sports atmosphere. The turnout was high and the head of the local Pomeranian pentathlon committee, Janek Szymczuk, said he was willing to train athletes so they could achieve great results in regional and international Laser Run competitions in 2020.”

The Global Laser Run City Tour was created in 2017 to provide an entry point to UIPM Sports for people of all ages in urban communities around the world.

Since then, tens of thousands of athletes of all ages have competed in venues across all continents.

The UIPM Laser Run World Championships was born in 2015 and in August 2020 it will be combined for the first time with the UIPM Biathle-Triathle World Championships, in Weiden (GER).
