Modern Pentathlon

Four athletes took a share of the lead into the Men’s Final after strong Semi-final performances on the fourth day of UIPM 2023 Pentathlon World Cup Budapest.

After a tight Fencing Ranking Round, Mohanad Shaban of Egypt could not be toppled for the third consecutive competition. However, this time three others – Linbin Zhang of China, Mihaly Koleszar of Hungary and Pavlo Tymoshchenko of Ukraine – matched his tally of 23V/12D.

Semi-final A was won by Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medallist Woongtae Jun of Korea, alongside his team-mate Changwan Seo (KOR) with Valentin Belaud of France only 2sec behind.

Shaban (EGY) was the first athlete home in Semi-final B, followed by host nation favourites Koleszar (HUN), Csaba Bohm (HUN) and Balazs Szep (HUN).
