UIPM 2023 Pentathlon World Cup Sofia: Men’s Qualification

UIPM 2023 Pentathlon World Cup Sofia continued today with 70 athletes taking part in the Men’s Qualification.

The top-scoring athlete of the day (1,154 points) and first across the line in Qualification Group B was Linbin Zhang of China, followed by Taishu Sato of Japan, Todor Mihalev of host nation Bulgaria and European champion Woojin Park of Korea.

The best performer in Qualification Group A was Eslam Hamad of Egypt, who finished 1sec ahead of a group comprising Jihun Lee (KOR), Stefano Frezza of Italy, Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Joseph Choong of Great Britain, Shuai Luo (CHN) and Lorenzo Macias of Mexico.

Also among the successful qualifiers were France team-mates Valentin Prades and Christopher Patte, Balazs Szep and Richard Bereczki of Hungary and the Germany duo of Marvin Dogue and Christian Zillekens.

Pentathlon World Cup Sofia continues tomorrow (May 11) with the Women’s Semi-finals, followed by the Men’s Semi-finals on May 12, the Finals on May 13 and the Mixed Relay on May 14.
