UIPM 2025 Pentathlon U17 World Championships: Men’s Qualification
The host nation will be dreaming of gold after Daniel Grove of South Africa stormed out ahead of a talented field during Men’s Qualification at the UIPM 2025 Pentathlon U17 World Championships.
The second day of action in Johannesburg (RSA) saw two truly global groups of athletes vie for the 36 precious places in Sunday’s men’s Final. Grove (RSA) was a convincing winner of the day’s first group as he pushed all the way to a 21-second victory. The 15-year-old knows what it takes to win a global title having taken U15 Triathle gold at the UIPM 2023 Biathle/Triathle World Championships in Bali (IDA) two years ago.
Behind him were Momen Abdelmgeed of Egypt and Domonkos Gyepessy of Hungary while some of the day’s early fireworks were provided in Qualification Group A when Aron Herczeg (HUN) blitzed to the day’s quickest time in Obstacle, a rapid 0:22.97 helping him safely progress to the Final.
In the evening’s second group, the pace was slightly slower but Egyptian compatriots Omar Abd El Fattah (EGY) and Abdelrhman Farouk (EGY) led things home. Not far behind were Szymon Pawlak of Poland, Kanta Abe of Japan and a quartet which included Nemere Szecsi (HUN) who finished fourth in last year’s edition of the competition. The day’s fastest Swimming time came in this group with Yu-an Chen of Chinese Taipei scorching to a 2:04.43 which helped him book his place in Sunday’s decider.
