The Rio 2016 Olympic Modern Pentathlon champion, Chloe Esposito (AUS), has been named as a Young Change Maker for the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires (ARG).

Esposito was chosen by the Australian Olympic Committee as one of 13 senior Olympians from around the world who will support YOG participants from their country during their first Olympic Games experience.

The 26-year-old joins a group of 76 Young Change Makers aged under 30 which comprises athletes, coaches, students and professionals. Part of their role will be to educate the young athletes on Olympic values.

Esposito (AUS) said: “I’m so excited to get the chance to help the athletes that are going to Buenos Aires 2018,” Esposito said.

“I want to be able to celebrate their highs with them but also if they’re not having such a good day, then be there for moral support.”

Chloe talks more about her Young Change Maker selection in a video on the Australian Olympic Committee website.

Kitty Chiller, President of the Oceania Modern Pentathlon Confederation and chef de mission to the Australian team at Rio 2016, said: “Chloe is a true champion and role model who has already gathered a great deal of experience that she can pass on to the Olympic athletes of tomorrow.

“As well as playing a supportive role to her fellow Australians taking part at the Youth Olympic Games I’m sure she will also take a lot from the experience that she will be able to use in the future.”
