FUNDRAISING FOR MODERN PENTATHLON UKRAINE FAMILY

Why is UIPM organizing this campaign?

UIPM as the world governing body of Olympic Sport Modern Pentathlon and other 5 multi-discipline sports, wish to support as much as possible our member National Federation and relevant Pentathlon family members of Ukraine, to overcome this unbelievable difficult time and provide our help and assistance wherever we can. We know there are thousands of supporters together with us, who would like to also contribute and help our Ukrainian sports friends and families. We hope that UIPM could provide such a channel for each of you.

How will UIPM distribute the funds raised?

Even knowing that currently there are Ukrainian athletes and their families in different locations in Europe supported by several UIPM member National Federations, organizations, and private people, at this moment UIPM will centralize efforts to assist the Ukrainian Modern Pentathlon National Team hosted by the Polish Modern Pentathlon Association (PMPA) in the sports center located in Drzonków - Zielona Góra. The group counts today with junior and senior athletes and coaches with their costs being fully covered by the PMPA. It is important to highlight that in the same center there is another group of 33 youth athletes with their mothers who are being supported as refugees by the local and national governments. The funds raised will be used to support the PMPA with the costs of accommodation, meals, and training possibilities for the Ukrainian National Team. Besides, UIPM is working closely with the International Olympic Committee to also obtain resources from their side to support the above-listed actions as well as potential travel costs to a few events.

In addition, the UIPM will continue to closely monitor the situation in cooperation with the Ukrainian Modern Pentathlon Federation. The goal is to keep identifying groups living in other European countries that can be supported by this UIPM initiative.

Has UIPM already done anything to help the Ukrainian athletes?

Yes, UIPM has already funded a series of sports equipment and outfit for the Ukrainian Junior team for more than 20 athletes, also supported Ukrainian athletes’ travel to Cairo World Cup, and is working together with the main UIPM events organizers to bear the accommodation costs of the Ukrainian teams in the competitions of this season. In addition, UIPM will make its contribution to this fundraising campaign as well.
