Rosario Gajardo (CAN) and Maria Elena Panetti (ITA) will join The Women in Sport High Performance Pathway programme

Rosario Gajardo (CAN) and Panetti Maria Elena (ITA) were selected to participate in The Women in Sport High Performance Pathway 21 months programme by Olympic Solidarity with one residential week in the UK.

Both candidates meet perfectly the criteria to join the programme.

Rosario Gajardo (CAN) is a certified UIPM coach with a coaching experience under the patronage of Pentathlon Canada.

Ms Gajardo said: “I am very excited for this next chapter in my coaching career, and to be able to better serve the athletes I work with. Thank you to the UIPM, Olympic Solidarity and Pentathlon Canada.”

Ms Shelley Callaghan, Pentathlon Canada Executive Director, added: “We are honoured that Rosario Gajardo has been accepted into the UIPM Women in Sport High Performance Pathway Programme. The training and experience Rosario will receive will not only help advance Canadian athletes but also inspire more women to become coaches.”

Maria Elena Panetti (ITA) has achieved great results in coaching, with one of her pentathletes, Alice Sotero, ranked 4th in Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Ms Panetti said: “I am beyond thrilled to have had the opportunity to join this course. I am sure that this experience will allow me to enrich my professional background and training both as a technician and as a woman in sport”.

Mr. Filippo De Liguori Carino, Secretary General of Federazione Italiana Pentathlon Moderno, added: “I am extremely pleased and proud in your choice of approving our Italian Federation of Modern Pentathlon’s representative Ms Maria Elena Panetti in the program organized by the UIPM “ Women in Sport High Performance Pathway” The Italian Federation has nominated Ms. Panetti because she brilliantly fulfils all the criteria required by UIPM for participating in the Program in question. In thanking the UIPM, I take the opportunity to send my best regards.”

The programme aims to increase opportunities and pathways for high performance women coaches and UIPM is proud to have its candidates representing the Modern Pentathlon world community.
