Tree plantation in Kyrgyzstan

UIPM News

A tree was planted in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan on October 21, 2016 in recognition of the first visit of UIPM President Dr Klaus Schormann and in memory of Modern Pentathlon's founder Baron Pierre de Coubertin. The ceremony took place during the Asian Championships with National Federation President Valerii Novikov present.

Tree planting is a long-lasting tradition of President Dr Schormann and the venue for this ceremony was the high-altitude, high-spec Modern Pentathlon Training Centre in Cholpon-Ata. The tree is designed to stand as a symbol for future competitions in Biathle/Triathle as well as Modern Pentathlon and to act as a milestone for future sporting and tourism opportunities.

Two-time Olympic champion Andrey Moiseyev is among the other important people who have already planted a tree at this high-altitude MP Training Centre, which is used by many athletes as a residential preparation facility.
