The global nature of international Modern Pentathlon provides development opportunities besides giving athletes the chance to compete.

One such opportunity came up when the UIPM Pentathlon World Cup circuit returned to Bulgaria this season, with the first of three competitions in consecutive years that have been awarded to the city of Albena.

Two courses under the UIPM Judges Certification Programme (JCP) were delivered to two Judges at Level 2 and 22 Assistant Judges at Level 1.

Coordinated by Andrea Dell’Amore (ITA), UIPM JCP Educator and Technical Committee Member, the courses concluded during UIPM 2022 Pentathlon World Cup Albena.

UIPM Technical Committee Chairman, Janusz Peciak OLY, said: “UIPM is continuing its efforts to maintain a high level of judge education in collaboration with frequent event organisers.

“Also, it is essential that organisers are equipped to adapt to rule changes and the new Modern Pentathlon format designed for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games includes rule changes approved at UIPM 2021 Congress.”
