AOC awards Life Membership to UIPM 1st Vice President Kitty Chiller
UIPM 1st Vice President, Kitty Chiller, has received special recognition with the award of Life Membership by the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the Olympic Movement and sport.
The honour, one of the highest distinctions awarded by the AOC, acknowledges a lifetime of service spanning more than four decades as an Olympian, sports administrator and international leader. Chiller will formally receive the award at the AOC Annual General Meeting on May 2.
A competitor at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, where women’s Modern Pentathlon made its Olympic debut, Chiller enjoyed an outstanding athletic career, including multiple national titles, Pentathlon World Cup medals and a period as world No.1.
Following her retirement, she has played a pivotal role in sports governance both in Australia and internationally. In addition to serving as UIPM Vice President since 2024, and previously as President of the Oceania Modern Pentathlon Confederation, she has held senior positions across the Olympic Movement, including Chef de Mission of the Australian Olympic Team at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, where she became the first woman to hold the role.
Chiller’s contribution to sport has also been recognised globally by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), with receipt of the IOC Women and Sport Award for Oceania in 2020, and other sport governing bodies such as the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG). She served as a member of the IOC Athletes’ Entourage Commission from 2017-2023.
“Kitty’s contribution to the Olympic Movement and sports system has been exceptional and enduring,” said AOC President Ian Chesterman.
“On behalf of the global UIPM Sports community, I warmly congratulate Kitty Chiller on this well-deserved recognition of a remarkable career dedicated to the advancement of sport worldwide,” said UIPM President Rob Stull.
