Celebrations as Severny sport complex opens in Moscow (RUS)

The Modern Pentathlon community in Russia is celebrating after a state-of-the-art sports complex opened in the capital city of Moscow.

Equipped with a swimming pool, fencing hall, shooting range, track-and-field stadium and riding arena with obstacles, the prestigious Severny academy will offer world-class training facilities to pentathletes of all age groups.

The academy is residential, enabling students to stay for long periods and combine their training with educational commitments.

The complex was opened by the Mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, who was joined at the ceremony by Russian Modern Pentathlon Federation President Viacheslav Aminov, Moscow 1980 Olympic champion and Severny academy head Anatoly Starostin (RUS) and Rio 2016 Olympic champion Alexander Lesun (RUS).
