Open Central Asian Cup held in Kyrgyz capital Bishkek

With UIPM pushing its global development initiatives with the 'Sport for All' ideal, Modern Pentathlon is now being introduced to new regions and this weekend saw the Open Central Asian Cup held in Kyrgyz capital Bishkek. This competition brought together athletes from the hosts nation Kyrgyzstan and neighbours Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to develop their skills.  One athlete from South Africa was also present.

As with youth competitions, there were four disciplines, fencing, swimming and the combined run/shoot.

20-year-old Kazakh Vladislav Sukharev took an impressive gold after coming second in the fence and winning both the swim and taking the fastest time in the combined to claim victory by 85 seconds. Silver went to South African Berndt Burger whilst Nikita Kuznetsov delighted the home crowd with bronze.
