UIPM 2026 Pentathlon U17 World Championships: Turkish delight in Women’s Relay

Modern Pentathlon

The second day of the UIPM 2026 Pentathlon U17 World Championships belonged to Türkiye, who celebrated a gold medal in the Women’s Relay in Kaunas (LTU) thanks to a dominant performance by Tuana Ozgur and Tulya Kesebir.

The Turks achieved an impressive 20sec victory margin over silver medallists Egypt, who survived a brave challenge by Great Britain to beat them across the line by a single second.

For much of the day it looked like Ukraine would be the team to beat. After winning 22 Fencing bouts with only six defeats, they also topped the standings in Swimming with a time of 55.25sec. Ultimately their struggles in Obstacle and Laser Run allowed others to capitalise.

To the delight of the host nation, Lithuania set the standard in Obstacle with a top time of 1min 04.72sec at the Lithuania Sports University campus in Kaunas. The Turkish duo also caught the eye with a 1:06, and they went into Laser Run with an overall lead that they protected smartly.

British pair Kiki Fletcher and Ava Chappell recorded the best Laser Run time of 8:58.04 to push Egyptians Ghazi Mahmoud and Mariam Abdelnaser all the way to the line.
