UIPM Judges Certification Programme: Cohort ready for Pentathlon World Cup double-header in Budapest (HUN)
A new group of Pentathlon judges has taken an important step forward in their officiating journey after completing a UIPM Judges Certification Programme (JCP) course in Budapest (HUN), timed to support preparations for upcoming international competitions in the Hungarian capital.
The course offered certification opportunities across Levels 1, 2 and 3 of the JCP and was designed to strengthen the pool of technical officials ahead of UIPM 2026 Pentathlon World Cup Budapest (June 9-13) and the UIPM 2026 Pentathlon World Cup Final (June 26-28).
In total, 16 students from Hungary took part in the programme, including 10 men and six women. The course was delivered in two stages, beginning with an online theory module from February 13-28, before participants gathered in Budapest for on-site theory and practical sessions from March 6-10.
The course was led by experienced UIPM JCP Educator and Technical Committee Member Agnes Kulcsar (HUN), who guided the participants through the technical and practical aspects of judging across the disciplines of Modern Pentathlon.
The JCP forms a key part of UIPM’s education pathway, designed to develop well-trained technical officials who help ensure fair competition and high organisational standards across UIPM Sports.
Kulcsar (HUN) praised the dedication shown by the participants throughout the course. “This group approached the programme with great focus and enthusiasm,” she said.
“It is always encouraging to see officials who are eager to deepen their understanding of the sport and develop their judging skills. Their work during the course will help strengthen the officiating community in Hungary as we prepare for important international competitions.”
Hungarian Modern Pentathlon Association President Gabor Balogh welcomed the successful completion of the course and highlighted its importance for the country’s busy competition calendar.
“We are very grateful to UIPM and to Agnes Kulcsar for delivering this important course in Budapest,” he said. “Developing knowledgeable and confident judges is essential as Hungary continues to host major events. These newly trained officials will play an important role in ensuring the high standards expected at the upcoming World Cup competitions.”
With the knowledge gained through both online study and hands-on learning, the Hungarian cohort is now better equipped to contribute to the smooth delivery of international competitions and to the continued growth of Pentathlon officiating.
