UIPM Judges Certification Programme: A new wave of graduates in Dubai (UAE)

UIPM News

As the appetite for UIPM Sports continues to grow across the Middle East, the pivotal role played by those who judge the sport has received a fresh injection of energy and talent.

Dubai, the most populous of the United Arab Emirates, was the site of a significant and successful UIPM Judges Certification Programme course in recent weeks.

The Level 1 course, overseen by UIPM JCP educator Agnes Kulcsar (HUN), involved two stages of learning for a cohort of over 30 students who were taking their first steps on the judging journey.

From August 13 to September 3 the group of 15 women and 20 men took part in online theory. Then, in a productive and energetic week of in-person learning, they gathered in Dubai (UAE) for on-site theory and practice with a focus on Modern Pentathlon as well as Biathle-Triathle.

Thanks to the work of the Asian Modern Pentathlon Confederation (AMPC), the region has become one of UIPM’s fastest-growing areas, with many active member federations. Last year the first Middle East Asia Championships took place in Kuwait City (KUW) while UIPM also held its 73rd Congress in Riyadh (KSA).

UIPM JCP educator Agnes Kulcsar (HUN) said: “We were very lucky to welcome such a diligent group of students who were eager to begin their journey, working on their judging skills and all aspects of both Pentathlon as well as Biathle-Triathle. Their energy is another great sign for our sport in the region. I thank them for their focus and dedication and hope this is just the beginning for them.”

AMPC Secretary General Sangkeong Yeo (KOR) said: “With the ongoing support of UIPM we continue to put energy and focus into growing our sport across the Asian confederation and have seen huge success in Middle East Asia. I thank our member federation in UAE and UIPM for their help in holding this crucial course which continues to build the vital resources for Pentathlon to grow.”
