Ukraine trio Tereshuk, Buriak and Khokhlova win Women Relay at Worlds

Modern Pentathlon

A perfect ride by the Ukraine women ensured they began the combined event at the World Championships in pole and some great shooting by Ganna Buriak, the first to start the 3-Team Relay, put them on their way to gold at the Fengshan Stadium. Viktoria Tereshuk and Iryna Khokhlova joined Buriak and put in some great performances, coming third in the fence with the second fastest time in the pool.

The equestrian event was by far the most significant as their 1200 points gave them a huge advantage at the start of the run/shoot.

Hungary collected their first medal of the competition as Zsofia Folhazi, Leila Gyenesei and Sarolta Kovacs claimed silver, having recorded the fastest times in both the swim and the combined.

It was another bronze for Russia, with Donata Rimsaite, Liudmila Kukushkina and Alise Fakhrutdinova teaming up.

Fourth place went to Great Britain after they had begun the final event down in sixth. China were fifth overall.
