While the Modern Pentathlon world is looking forward to the World Cup #4 starting tomorrow in Hungary, there are also significant happenings in the development of the sports – particularly in South Africa.
Through various initiatives leaded by the UIPM Instructor Bernhard Petruchinski (GER), the UIPM is helping the South Africa Modern Pantathlon Association to broaden the horizons, develop their skills and promote the growth of the sport.
The initiative involves courses to qualify judges and coaches, and focused training sessions to athletes to improve their abilities.

Over the next five days the best Modern Pentathletes in the world will do battle in the Men’s Individual, Women’s Individual and Mix Relay categories as they bid to rack up qualifying points for the UIPM 2015 World Cup Final. This is the fourth stage of the 2015 UIPM World Cup series and the fifth leg will be the World Cup Final, held in Minsk, Belarus in June.

The UIPM 2015 World Cup #1 winner James Cooke (GBR) and the recent UIPM 2014 World Cup #3 winner Pavlo Tymoshchenko (UKR) are some of the athletes qualified to the Final that will also have 4 athletes from the home country, the Hungarians Soma Tomaschof, Adam Marosi, Bence Demeter and , Tamas Bence Frohlich.
KECSKEMET, HUNGARY - Valentin Belaud (France) showed a cool head and a blistering final run to clinch Men's Individual gold in the fourth stage of the 2015 UIPM World Cup Series in Kecskemet, Hungary. The 22-year-old overcame a 22-second gap on Ilia Frolov (Russia) to beat the former World Champion into second place in a dramatic Combined Event. The two athletes were neck-and-neck going into the final shoot, but a nerveless display from Belaud (FRA) saw him race out of the pistol range seconds ahead of his more experienced rival.
