Rio 2016 Modern Pentathlon update: Men's Swimming

Another Olympic record was broken at Rio 2016 when James Cooke (GBR) won the Men's Swimming event at the Deodoro Aquatics Center.
 
Cooke (GBR) defeated Amro Elgeziry (EGY) in the final heat and in the process robbed him of his Olympic record. Cooke's new mark is 1min 55.60secs and Elgeziry was very close behind in 1:55.80, just slower than his 2008 record of 1:55.70. Joseph Choong (GBR) was third-fastest in 1:58.50.

Rio 2016 Modern Pentathlon update: Men's Fencing

Alexander Lesun (RUS) has won the Men's Fencing event in Modern Pentathlon at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and is the overall leader after two events. 

Lesun (RUS) lost the final bout of the Fencing Bonus Round to Patrick Dogue (GER) but he had already broken the Olympic record in Thursday's Ranking Round. With a Fencing score of 268 he leads the competition with 592 points ahead of two athletes tied for second on 569: Omar Elgeziry (EGY) and Joseph Choong (GBR).

Rio 2016 Modern Pentathlon update: Men's Riding

Alexander Lesun (RUS) saw his advantage reduced but he remained in the lead heading into the Men's Combined Event in Modern Pentathlon at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
 
Lesun (RUS) incurred 21 penalty points in Riding for an overall score of 871 that gave fresh hope to the rest of the field. Joseph Choong (GBR) will start 2nd with a 9-second handicap and Amro Elgeziry (EGY) will be a further 10 seconds behind.

Alexander Lesun (RUS) wins 2016 Olympic Modern Pentathlon gold

Alexander Lesun (RUS) is the 2016 Olympic Modern Pentathlon champion after setting a new Olympic record of 1479 points with a consistently strong and unflappable performance throughout the Men's event.
 
Lesun (RUS) went into the Combined Event with a nine-second lead and ended up winning by seven seconds from silver medallist Pavlo Tymoshchenko (UKR). Ismael Hernandez Uscanga (MEX) won a sprint to the line to claim bronze ahead of 4th-placed Valentin Prades (FRA) and 5th-placed Riccardo de Luca (ITA).

LISBON, PORTUGAL - More than 400 athletes have gathered in the Portuguese capital city this weekend to participate in the 2nd UIPM Laser-Run World Championships.

Laser-Run is the fastest-growing sport of the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) and after a successful Olympic Games for Modern Pentathlon in Rio de Janeiro (BRA), 421 pentathletes from 22 nations are in Lisbon aiming to hone their Running and Shooting skills in a format that mirrors the Modern Pentathlon Combined Event.
