UIPM Joint Committees Meeting: January/February 2025
- Five elected UIPM Committees gather for historic convention in Nice (FRA)
- Mass knowledge share results in creation of dynamic action plans
- President Stull thanks elected members for reinforced commitment to UIPM Sports movement
Members of five elected UIPM Committees participated in a mass knowledge share as an historic convention marked the outset of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic cycle.
For the first time, UIPM brought together its Athletes, Coaches, Technical, Medical and Business Affairs Committees for individual and joint meetings that resulted in action plans with clear timelines.
Following the first meeting of the new-look UIPM Executive Board, a Joint Committees meeting was held on 31 January before the five groups met separately, reconvening finally to share and discuss their action plans on the morning of February 2.
The event provided more than 40 elected representatives with opportunities to share their experience, knowledge, opinions and suggestions as the UIPM Sports global community enters a new era with Obstacle now fully integrated in Modern Pentathlon and other sub-sports.
During the first joint meeting session, newly elected President Rob Stull OLY looked across the forthcoming cycle, while Secretary General Shiny Fang broke down the goals and tasks, Committee Chairs addressed their concerns and wishes, and Committee Members expressed their commitment and excitement for the future.
After the separate meetings on February 1, the final collective summit enabled a thorough wrap-up of the five Committee’s conclusions and plans.
- Chaired by Sam Curry (GBR), the UIPM Athletes Committee with fresh and enlivened minds prioritised their plans for competitions, health, communications and community celebration, with a lot of input from other Committees accepted and discussed.
- Chaired by Paulius Aleksandravicius (LTU), the UIPM Coaches Committee produced a precise and solid action plan with timeline and assignments, well embraced by the other Committees, who were encouraged to do the same.
- Chaired by Andrea Dell’Amore (ITA), the UIPM Technical Committee demonstrated their upgraded style of implementing rules, joyful cooperation among each other, with practical and feasible solutions and firm determination.
- Chaired by Dr Doug Stull (USA), the UIPM Medical Committee engaged effectively in numerous areas, offering medical expertise and suggestions that were welcomed by the athletes and other Committee Members, while committing to join efforts for a safe and clean sport.
- The UIPM Business Affairs Committee modified their intentions and focus, shifting their attention to external commercial possibilities and opportunities, also focusing on better media and marketing impact together with UIPM’s Commercial and Communications teams.
President Stull wrapped up the meeting by thanking all members who gave up their time to the advancement of UIPM Sports and reinforced their commitment to their elected positions.
UIPM President Rob Stull OLY said: “We are an Athletes First organisation and each of our Committees was able to meet and establish priorities following that mantra. Their thoughtful and dynamic discussions resulted in action plans to be implemented for the forthcoming year with benchmarks and metrics identified.
“It was a great start to our new beginning, building on the success of the past. And now we look forward with relish to the 2025 season where the new Modern Pentathlon comprising Fencing, Obstacle, Swimming and Laser Run will be introduced at senior global level for the first time. It is a truly enticing prospect and I urge anyone interested in dynamic multisport to tune in to our coverage and follow our incredible pentathletes on social media.”
