1.) 03.08.-05.08.2019, Berlin, GER

UIPM President Dr Klaus Schormann visited a festival incorporating 10 Olympic sports in the Olympic Park in Berlin from August 3-4. German television networks ARD and ZDF covered 10 international German Championships, including Modern Pentathlon, over the weekend with nine hours of broadcasting time on each day. Thousands of spectators followed directly the events and millions of TV viewers tuned in. It was the first instance of German sports working together with television to present a festival of multiple sports on one weekend.

2.) 16.08.2019, Darmstadt, GER

Prof Dr Gerald Fritz visited discussed the UIPM President at his office to discuss strategies for marketing and promotion. Together they worked on a presentation that will be delivered to the UIPM Business Affairs Committee meeting on September 9 in Budapest (HUN). 

 

 

3.) 08.08.-12.08.2019, Bath, GBR

President Dr Schormann attended the 2019 European Modern Pentathlon Championships and Olympic Qualifier, where he met Pentathlon GB board member and Seoul 1988 pentathlon bronze medallist Dominic Mahony with other UIPM representatives at the World Olympians Association (WOA) reception in Bath (GBR) on August 10. 

Also present were legendary Olympic pentathletes Dmitry Svatkovsky (RUS), President of the European Confederation, Dr Stephanie Cook (GBR), Laura Asadauskaite (LTU), Joël Bouzou (FRA), UIPM Vice President and WOA President, and Janusz Peciak (POL), UIPM Executive Board Member for Sport.

On August 8 President Dr Schormann joined Martin Dawe, UIPM Executive Board Member for Marketing, on a visit to the Pentathlon GB archives where they met Andy Archibald, Member of the UIPM Commission for Culture and Education, along with Pentathlon GB chairman David Armstrong and Chief Executive Sara Heath.

 

 

4.) 23.08.-26.08.2019, Weiden, GER

From August 23-25 President Schormann visited the European Laser Run Championships, where UIPM also organized the fourth and final test event for the New Tetrathlon format that will be proposed for the 2022 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal (see news section).
