UIPM strengthens Athlete365 Career+ pathway with dual-career workshops, AI education and scholarship opportunities
In 2025, UIPM expanded its athlete-focused initiatives across education, governance, integrity and career skills development, continuing its commitment to support athletes both on and off the field of play.
The year began with two IOC Athlete365 Career+ online workshops for elite pentathletes: Self-Discovery and CV/Resume Writing. Delivered in February by certified Athlete365 educator and UIPM Education & Project Manager Anfisa Kasyanova, the Self-Discovery programme ran across three 1.5-hour sessions, helping athletes explore strengths, values and interests, while the CV/Resume workshop comprised two 1.5-hour sessions focused on creating a clear, impactful CV that highlights transferable skills developed through sport. IOC certificates were awarded to successful participants, with 20 athletes taking part online.

Youth development accelerated in August during the UIPM 2025 U19 World Championships in Druskininkai (LTU), where 40 athletes and entourage members joined a series of in-person Athlete365 Career+ Self-Discovery workshops. Sessions followed the same action-based learning approach that has proven effective at UIPM events: reflection, discussion, storytelling and practical exercises designed to help participants identify their “superpowers” and build tools to manage and develop their skills. All participants received IOC certificates, and the workshops were delivered as part of the UIPM Athletes Centred Programme.

Alongside the Career+ programme, UIPM also delivered an additional practical session on AI for athletes’ personal brand (“From field to feed”), giving U19 athletes real examples of how to use AI responsibly to plan content, clarify messaging and communicate authentically while staying aligned with their values and safeguarding their digital reputation.
“The workshop helped me understand what makes me unique beyond results,” said Kaspars JUBELIS from Latvia. “The AI session was especially useful because it showed us how to create better content without losing our own voice.”
UIPM Athletes Committee Chair Sam Curry added: “Modern Pentathlon demands versatility and so does life. Athlete365 Career+ gives our athletes practical tools for dual careers, and the AI workshop helps them navigate the digital world with confidence, creativity and responsibility.”

In 2025 UIPM continued its partnership with the World Academy of Sport (WAoS), supporting access to flexible learning opportunities for athletes and entourage. A recent highlight was the enrolment of Olympian Emiliano Hernández (MEX), silver medallist at the 2023 UIPM World Championships and Mexico’s flag bearer at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, in a University of London online Postgraduate Certificate on Sport Management.
“Studying online alongside training is helping me understand the sport system from the inside — governance, event operations, stakeholder management and how decisions are made,” said Hernández. “These sport management skills are useful right now in my role as an athlete, and they’re also giving me a clear pathway for my future career in sport.”
