A perfect ride by the Ukraine women ensured they began the combined event at the World Championships in pole and some great shooting by Ganna Buriak, the first to start the 3-Team Relay, put them on their way to gold at the Fengshan Stadium. Viktoria Tereshuk and Iryna Khokhlova joined Buriak and put in some great performances, coming third in the fence with the second fastest time in the pool.
The equestrian event was by far the most significant as their 1200 points gave them a huge advantage at the start of the run/shoot.

After learning of the devastating effect of the recent typhoon in the Philippines, John Amabile of the organising committee of the 2014 World Cup Final, travelled to Balabag on the Negros Island on behalf of UIPM to bring food to those affected by the disaster. Typhoon Haiyan has left four million children desperate for food, clean water and shelter.
Thanks to the efforts of John Amabile, the children of Balabag are now eating soup with chicken, vegetables and rice, sponsored by UIPM.
Following a week of clean-up and hardship from the tragedy of Typhoon Hainan, locally in the Philippines known as Typhoon Yolanda, the Negros Biathle Competition was held this weekend. The event was moved from Cadiz City on the northern tip of Negros Island, which suffered major damage from the super typhoon, to Canonoy Beach Resort further south and further away from the path which the eye of the storm took. All who took part thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were left with a big smile on their faces.
The Executive Board of the Union International de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) got together today for 2-days of talks in Limassol, on the south coast of Cyprus, as a precursor to the 2013 Congress which begins on Friday. Hosted by the Cyprus Modern Pentathlon Biathlon Federation at the Mediterranean hotel under the guidance of their President and secretary General of the National Olympic Committee General Charalambos Lottas and the team at Top Kinisis, the event is set to welcome delegates from over 40 nations.
The 65th Annual UIPM Modern Pentathlon Congress, which took place in Limassol, Cyprus, this weekend, saw delegates from almost 50 countries present as the nations planned towards the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The Executive Board also got together in the two days prior to the Congress.

Great Britain’s Mhairi Spence gets the opportunity to defend her World Championship crown when she competes at the most important modern pentathlon competition since the London 2012 Olympics this month. She will lead a formidable GB team to contest the 2013 World Championships in Kaohsiung, Chinese Taipei, from 21 to 27 August.
Spence won the title in Rome in May 2012 which were held earlier in the year than usual because of the Olympic Games, so Spence has had the privilege of reigning as World Champion for just over 15 months.
In a show of quality on the pistes of the Hungarian National Championships, World Pentathlon No.3 Adam Marosi dominated his peers to win a sensational title in epée. The 29-year-old London 2012 Olympic bronze medallist was in blistering form this weekend and was simply unstoppable as he took first place. The Hungarian National Epeé Team won gold at the Fencing World Championships in Budapest earlier this year. Ádám Marosi beat two member of that team on his way to gold.
After taking the World title in Chinese Taipei this summer, Lithuania’s Justinas Kinderis claimed top spot in the world ranking to end the year as the No.1 male pentathlete. The 26-year-old now knows he has to remain at the peak of his powers to stay at the top of the pile.
With so many talented athletes all vying to take his place, Kinderis has been pushing himself to his very limits in Colorado Springs to make sure that he is in the best shape of his life coming into 2014.
