Race Across China

From 2 to 6 September 2026, Beijing will once again welcome the world for the second edition of the UIPM Obstacle World Championships, building on the strong foundations and global momentum created in its inaugural year.

The 2026 edition represents a clear step forward. This year introduces a series of enhancements designed to elevate both the level of competition and the overall athlete experience, creating an environment where performance, engagement and recognition go hand in hand.

Across five days of competition, athletes will take on three individual race formats, each with its own demands and character. The 100m, now firmly established as a global benchmark, will once again deliver explosive, high-intensity racing. The 400m returns after attracting strong attention in 2025, offering a unique balance of speed, rhythm and technical challenge. The 3km completes the programme, testing endurance, resilience and race management under sustained pressure.

Alongside the individual events, the 3km Team Event returns in a renewed format, bringing fresh dynamics to the competition and placing greater emphasis on strategy, coordination and collective performance. In addition, a new 400m Relay format is introduced, featuring teams of four athletes each completing a 100m leg. This new event adds a distinct, high-intensity team race to the programme, focused on speed, precision and seamless transitions between athletes.

Together, these formats provide a complete expression of the sport, requiring versatility, control and consistency at the highest level.

At the same time, the Championships remain open and inclusive by design. Alongside elite athletes, age-group competitors from across the world will take part, bringing diversity, energy and a strong sense of community to the event. The combination of individual and team competitions creates a setting where athletes not only compete, but also share the experience, support one another and feel part of something larger.

Beyond the field of play, the UIPM Obstacle World Championships continues to establish itself as a key meeting point for the international obstacle community, bringing together athletes, federations and partners in an environment that combines competition with exchange, visibility and development.

Beijing is ready to welcome the world once again. The stage is set. Now it is time to take your place.
