Event Information

The competition will take place in Beijing, introducing a setting that moves beyond what is traditionally seen in international sport. The selected environment allows the event to be delivered within a large-scale, dynamic space, offering a different context for competition while maintaining the technical standards required at this level.

ELITE CATEGORY AND AGE GROUPS

All athletes need to be registered individually. 

For the Elite category, all athletes must obtain approval from their National Federations. UIPM will shortly communicate the detailed policy to National Federations. Athletes competing in the Age Groups may register individually.

If an athlete competes in the Elite category in one race but has not been selected by their National Federation to compete in another distance, they may individually register for that race. For example, an athlete may compete in the Elite category for the 100m and in their Age Group for the 3km. However, it is not permitted to register in both the Elite and Age Group for the same distance.

• Elite category: Open to National Federations selected athletes. This category has no age divisions and is open to athletes aged 13 and above. They will compete for prize money (available in 100m, 400m & 3km Individual).
• Age Groups: Designed for athletes competing without National Federation nomination. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each Age Group, but no prize money is offered.

Age Groups:

• U11 and U13 (100m and 3km individual only)
• U15 (all distances except 4x100m)

All other age groups will compete in all distances:

• U17
• U19
• Junior (U22)
• Senior (22-39)
• Masters (40+)

*Age groups are assigned automatically during registration, based on the athlete’s year of birth - day and month are not considered. For example, all athletes born in 2008 will be considered 18 years old for the purpose of the competition and placed in the U19 category (unless they are registered in the elite division).

PRIZE MONEY

Prize money (in USD) will be awarded to the top three finishers in each Elite category (men and women) across the 100m, 400m, and 3km Individual events. No prize money will be awarded for either the Team 3km event or the 4x100m Relay.
