FAQ

Who can compete and how do I register?

No prior qualification is required for the Age Groups competition. To ensure open and inclusive participation during this transition phase for the sport, any athlete may register directly via the UIPM website or UIPM Central App (available for both Android or IOS).

National Federations (UIPM and/or FISO) in each country will be responsible for selecting athletes to compete in the Elite category.

Is there a minimum age to compete?

Yes. To participate all athletes must be at least 9 years old for the Age Group competition, and 13 years old for the Elite competition, on the first day of competition, 2nd September 2026.

Am I required to wear a specific uniform, or can I choose my own outfit?

Athletes competing in the Elite categories will be entered representing their respective National Federations and are therefore required to wear the official uniform of their country.

For Age Group categories, athletes may compete in their own outfit. You must wear shorts or leggings, a suitable top, and appropriate footwear, ensuring that all equipment is safe and suitable for obstacle racing.

When does registration open and close?

Registration is open now and will close on 10th August 2026.

What is included in the registration fee?

  • Race entry
  • Podium medal and certificates (top three athletes of all distances in each Age Group and in the Elite category, for each gender)
  • Finisher medal in 3km Individual and Team
  • Championships T-shirt

Is there a discount for registering in multiple events?

Yes. If you register for more than one event, you will receive a 10% discount on the total registration fee. The discount will be automatically applied at checkout when multiple events are selected during the registration process.

How does registration for the Team 3km event work?

Each team must consist of three athletes, regardless of age group, but must include at least one athlete of a different gender to ensure mixed-gender participation.

When registering for the Team 3km, each athlete must register and pay the fee individually as a team member. You will not register the full team online in advance.

Once in Beijing, during competition check-in, one member of your team must confirm the team composition by filling out and signing a form at the UIPM Office. The exact deadline for on-site submission of this form will be communicated once finalized.

Are fees refundable or transferable?

UIPM does not offer refunds under any circumstances and registrations cannot be transferred to other participants.

Should I present any medical certification during registration?

During registration, you may either use the UIPM’s medical certificate template (available for download next to the upload button in the registration form) or submit your own valid medical certificate, issued by a doctor, provided its expiry date is after the competition date.

Should I be self-insured?

Yes. During the registration process, you will be required to review and accept the waiver and liability terms, which include the obligation to hold valid personal insurance coverage and agree to provide proof upon request during the competition.

Is there a mandatory obstacle completion or penalty rule?

The official rulebook for all races will be published on 31st July 2026, together with detailed information of the competition.

Is there an athlete briefing before the races?

Yes. There will be two official technical meetings to brief athletes on rules, course layout, and competition procedures: one on September 1st  before the 100m and 400m events, and another on September 4th  before the Individual and Team 3km races.

While attendance at these briefings is optional, participants will have access to download the presentation slides with the briefing content. Please note that following these technical meetings, no further changes will be made to the start lists.

I have a coach and/or accompanying person coming to China. Should they be registered?

No, coaches and accompanying persons will not be officially registered. While all athletes will receive accreditation granting access to the Field of Play (FOP) and designated athlete areas, coaches will have access to the warm-up zones and spectator tribunes, but not to the restricted zones, including the FOP.

Where can I follow the competition results?

You can follow all competition results in real time on the UIPM Central App (available for both Android or IOS). The app will provide live updates, heat results, rankings, and final standings across all events, so you can stay up to date whether you're on-site or following online.
