The UIPM was founded during the 1948 London Olympic Games at Sandhurst and before this time Modern Pentathlon was administered by the International Olympic Committee. To recognise this historic landmark the UIPM, the British Army and Pentathlon GB organised an event at Sandhurst on 24 August 2015, in the company of many notable guests. Among these were members of the family of Brigadier Leslie Wieler, who did so much at the time to facilitate and encourage the formation of the Union.
