Annika Schleu, ranked 22 in the world, surprised herself with a highly accomplished performance in good conditions in Doha. Having come out on top in the Riding, she maintained her form through the Combined Event to win Women's Individual gold.
DOHA, QATAR, November 28, 2015 - The 2015 Modern Pentathlon season closed with a vision of the future as 20-year-old Woongtae Jun claimed the title of UIPM Champion of Champions after a captivating Men's Individual competition.
Jun, the World No.9 from Korea who won silver at the 2015 Junior World Championships in August, confirmed his burgeoning potential to compete for the big prizes at senior level by beating a strong field to gold at the Qatar Foundation Recreation Centre and Al Shaqab arena.
The Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) has written to the Russian Modern Pentathlon Federation to express its deep sorrow after the death of Alexander Kukarin, one of the country’s most accomplished pentathletes.
Kukarin was only 22, and he had helped Russia to win medals at both the Senior World Championships and the European Championships in 2015. The loss of an elite athlete in his prime has sent shockwaves through the global Modern Pentathlon community.
Usman Anwar, Director General of Sports Punjab, has reported that the sport of Modern Pentathlon has achieved rapid growth in Pakistan.
The sport was introduced just two years ago but now athletes from across the country are taking keen interest, Mr Anwar said at a prize ceremony held by the Pakistan Modern Pentathlon Federation (PMPF) at Punjab Stadium on November 20.

John Holland was one of the founding members of the Pan American Modern Pentathlon Confederation (PAMPC) and served the body as Secretary General and President, before becoming President of UIPM-NORCECA and serving on the UIPM Executive Board.
The development programmes UIPM runs world-wide is well-known and Afghanistan is a testament to how much can be achieved in a relatively short space of time with focused work. Around 180 pentathletes, 60 female and 120 male, were selected from the program with the ultimate dream to participate in international modern pentathlon competitions. The country also reports an increasing interest of media with a remarkable coverage during the three-day seminar that took place from 23 to 25 December in the National Olympic Committee Conference Hall.

The Afghanistan Pentathlon Federation (APF) held a successful seminar in the capital city of Kabul which resulted in TV coverage on multiple channels.
The seminar, held in the Kabul Paris Hall on January 11, was attended by 138 delegates including leading Afghan pentathletes, coaches and administrators, National Olympic Committee chiefs, officials from other sporting governing bodies, leading businessmen and public officials including representatives from the Vice-President’s office.
