With 26 places at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games remaining unaccounted for, the most versatile athletes in Olympic sport return to the start line this week at UIPM 2020 Pentathlon World Cup Cairo.
Elections to the UIPM Athletes Committee (AC) will take place throughout 2020 and UIPM is urging National Federations to nominate candidates.
The AC represents the interests of UIPM Sports athletes. It has the right to represent the athletes’ position to the General Assembly, the Executive Board and the Committees, in particular to the Technical and Medical Committees.
Justinas Kinderis of Lithuania is one of the most experienced pentathletes on the UIPM circuit today. Now aged 32 and ranked 11 in the world, he got his first taste of gold at the Pentathlon World Championships in 2010 in Chengdu (CHN). Three years later he claimed the Men’s Individual crown in Kaoshiung (CHN), a year after finishing 8th at the London 2012 Olympic Summer Games.

The air was thick with nostalgia as Adam Marosi of Hungary claimed his first individual gold medal in six years at UIPM 2020 Pentathlon World Cup Cairo.

Egypt had two reasons to celebrate on the final day of UIPM 2020 Pentathlon World Cup Cairo after clinching both the gold and silver medals in the Mixed Relay.
UIPM has tonight written to its National Federation members with an update relating to the Coronavirus outbreak and its potential impact on UIPM 2020 Pentathlon World Cup Final Seoul, scheduled to take place in the Korean capital from May 14-17.
A UIPM spokesperson said: “UIPM is in continuous contact and sharing information with the Korean Modern Pentathlon Federation and the local organising committee of UIPM 2020 Pentathlon World Cup Final Seoul.
