UIPM 2022 Pentathlon World Cup Ankara kicked off today with 58 athletes taking part in the women’s qualification round.
Among the successful qualifiers were Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Kate French of Great Britain and team-mates Joanna Muir, Jessica Varley and Charlie Follett, and local favourite Ilke Ozyuksel of Turkey along with team-mate Sesim Alpugan.

The Union international de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) has announced the 72 athletes who will compete at the UIPM 2022 Pentathlon World Cup Final in Ankara (TUR) next week.
Hungary has become the first nation to give its athletes an opportunity to train for Obstacle Discipline, the proposed New 5th Discipline of Modern Pentathlon.
Ahead of the first official Test Event in Ankara (TUR) on June 27/28, a group of Hungarian pentathletes practised on an obstacle rig on the outskirts of Budapest (HUN) – and according to a report in Nemzeti Sport the feedback was very positive.
