MOSSEL BAY: December 15, 2025 – A spectacular UIPM 2025 Biathle-Triathle and Laser Run World Championships enabled almost 1,000 athletes from around the world to enjoy six days of competition and celebration on the golden sands of the Western Cape.
With a hugely significant couple of years of sport rapidly approaching over the Andes, the spectacular Peruvian capital of Lima was the scene of a little bit of history in recent weeks.
The 2025 edition of the Bolivarian Games, a multisport event held in honour of Simón Bolívar which have been taking place since the 1930s, were held in Lima (PER) in late November and early December.
For the first time, Modern Pentathlon was included in the programme and the Lima 2025 Bolivarian Games was treated to an exhilarating exhibition of the best of the sport.

As I look back on my first full year as UIPM President, what stands out most is the pace of change – and the collective effort it has taken to deliver it. This has been a year defined by action, collaboration and momentum, as Modern Pentathlon has continued one of the most significant periods of evolution in its history.
As we approach the end of another momentous year for the Olympic sport of Modern Pentathlon and its burgeoning global community, Joe Callaghan recalls five moments that changed the game and shook the world.
1) A Whole New Arena
On 5 December 2025, Lieutenant Commander Andreas Idra, President of the CISM Modern Pentathlon Sport Committee, visited the UIPM Headquarters in Monaco for an official courtesy meeting.
This marked his first visit to the HQ in his capacity as PCSC for Modern Pentathlon within the governing body of international military sport.
The meeting aimed to strengthen the relationship between the CISM Modern Pentathlon Committee and UIPM, fostering closer institutional cooperation.
